We prefer to use the JEdit (www.jedit.org) editor in my courses because it works the same in Macintosh and Windows. Also Jedit is good for technical work beyond Python such as HTML, CSS, etc. We also show how to run your Python programs in a command line interface instead of a point and click interface. Our experience shows that you just understand what is going on much better this way.

- Macintosh Podcasts: Installing JEdit and Installing Python and Writing a Python Program
- Windows XP Podcasts: Installing JEdit and Installing Python and Writing a Python Program
- Windows Vista Podcasts: Installing JEdit and Installing Python and Writing a Python Program
You should probably download these files to your computer and view/play them locally as they are rather large files and you will want to move back and forth as well as start and sopt the podcasts so you can perform the steps as indicated.
